For many women considering breast enhancement, the surgical journey itself is an important factor in their decision-making process. Traditional breast augmentation methods are well-established and highly effective, commonly utilising full general anaesthesia and submuscular placement to support the implants. However, because these conventional approaches involve creating space beneath the chest muscle, they typically involve a standard period of post-operative healing and downtime while the tissues adjust.
By contrast, breast surgery has significantly evolved. At Cosmetic Surgery Partners, we offer Preservé™ Breast Augmentation, a modern approach to breast enhancement designed to preserve your breast tissues (Nerves, blood vessels, ligaments) . Performed by Consultant Plastic Surgeons Mr Marcus Davis and Mr Miles Berry (GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery and Royal College of Surgeons Certification in Cosmetic Surgery), this latest procedure redefines the patient experience by minimising surgical trauma, and protecting the delicate supporting tissues of the breast. This is all possible under a local anaesthetic (numbing injections) with sedation and avoiding a general anaesthetic if wanted.
Preservé™ is an innovative surgical technique developed to enhance breast volume and projection while respecting your native breast tissue architecture. Unlike conventional methods that frequently require cutting through healthy breast tissue, ligaments, or the pectoralis chest muscle, the Preservé™ system uses proprietary, specialised instruments to work harmoniously with your existing anatomy.
Rather than creating an implant pocket through sharp surgical dissection (cutting), the procedure utilises an inflatable balloon to gently and progressively stretch the internal breast tissues . to create a stable, supportive pocket surrounded by the native internal breast ligaments to create a supportive “nest” around the implant – this is situated above the chest muscle (sub glandular ).
Because the natural supporting ligaments and fibrous networks remain intact rather than being cut , the implant receives optimal structural support. This technique is paired with the Motiva Ergonomix2® implants. These highly cohesive, ergonomic devices possess a low-inflammatory surface and are flexible enough to be guided smoothly into place using a sterile, "no-touch" insertion sleeve.
While this technique works beautifully for standard enhancements, patients presenting with distinct developmental asymmetry might find a tailored approach on our asymmetrical breast augmentation page more appropriate. You can view our full range of solutions in our complete breast surgery section.
One of the most defining aspects of Preservé™ at Cosmetic Surgery Partners is the choice of anaesthetic. Mr Marcus Davis is one of the very few plastic surgeons who offers Preservé™ Breast Augmentation with a dedicated intravenous sedation and local anaesthetic option.
While traditional breast augmentation techniques almost universally necessitate a full general anaesthetic, the tissue-preserving nature of Preservé™ allows the procedure to be performed comfortably awake under local anaesthetic with sedation. This provides several key clinical benefits:
By combining a breast tissue preserving technique with state-of-the-art implant engineering, Preservé™ offers distinct advantages:
Patient safety, thorough education, and ethical care are the cornerstones of Cosmetic Surgery Partners. Your journey begins with a comprehensive, face-to-face consultation with Mr Marcus Davis or Mr Miles Berry, available at both our flagship London clinic and our Hemingford Park location in Cambridgeshire. During this assessment, Mr Davis will carefully examine your natural anatomy, discuss your goals , detail the specific risks associated with breast augmentation surgery, and determine if the Preservé™ technique is clinically suitable for you.
In strict accordance with UK medical regulations and GMC guidelines, all patients must undergo a mandatory 14-day cooling-off period following their initial consultation. This window ensures that you have ample time to reflect on all the medical information, weigh the potential risks, and make an entirely unpressured, fully informed decision regarding your surgical care.

While no surgical procedure can be described as entirely painless, Preservé™ is markedly more comfortable than traditional breast augmentation. Because the pectoralis chest muscle is left untouched and no deep internal tissue is cut, post-operative discomfort is substantially reduced, allowing for a smoother early healing phase.
Because the tissues are stretched rather than cutting through them, the local sensory nerves supplying the breast skin and nipple complex are at less risk of damage. This significantly reduces the risk of temporary or permanent numbness compared to traditional cutting methods when the breast implant is placed on top of the muscle.
Approximately one in thirteen women cannot breast feed, however for the twelve in thirteen that potentially can breast feed then there is a reduced risk of this ability being interfered with using the Preservé method of breast augmentation compared with the traditional technique, but there is always a potential risk, no matter how small, that breast feeding could be interfered with.
Thanks to the tissue preserving technique of Preservéé, patients of Mr Marcus Davis have returned to work as soon as one day after surgery and to full exercise as soon as two weeks after surgery. This compares to one-to-two weeks off work and six weeks off exercise with the traditional breast augmentation technique.
Preservé™ is excellent for primary breast augmentation patients (those having breast implants for the first time) seeking a natural look, feel, and movement, as well as those who prioritise a less invasive surgical footprint. It is also an exceptional option for patients who specifically wish to undergo breast enhancement without general anaesthesia, and those who wish to minimise their downtime after surgery During your consultation, Mr Marcus Davis will evaluate your tissue dynamics to confirm eligibility.
