Pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding can change the abdomen, breasts and body contour. Common concerns include abdominal muscle separation, loose skin, a Caesarian section scar or ‘overhang’, stubborn fat pockets and breast deflation or droop. A Mummy Makeover is a personalised plan that addresses these changes in one stage or in a safe sequence of surgeries. At Cosmetic Surgery Partners in London, surgery is led by Mr Miles G Berry and Mr Marcus Davis who design a personalised plan that may include tummy tuck, breast uplift with or without implants, breast reduction or augmentation, and the option of body contouring with liposuction.
Skin and fascia stretch to accommodate pregnancy. Abdominal muscles separate, known as diastasis recti. Breast tissue shrinks after breastfeeding and supportive ligaments lengthen. Whilst diet and training improve strength and weight, redundant skin, separated muscles and malpositioned soft tissues usually require surgery. Plans may combine abdominoplasty, breast uplift with or without implants, breast reduction or augmentation, and targeted liposuction. Overnight care is available when appropriate, and procedures are either combined in one session or safely staged
You may be suitable if you are at a maintainable weight, which has been stable for at least 6 months, and have completed breastfeeding. Good candidates are non-smokers (or able to stop), with realistic goals about scars, downtime and results. Your consultation will assess skin quality, muscle position, breast volume and nipple position. Your surgeon will advise whether to combine procedures in one date or stage them for safety. Common combinations include tummy tuck with muscle repair plus breast uplift, uplift with implant for volume, or liposuction to flanks and hips for contour balance.
Recovery depends on the exact plan. After tummy tuck and breast surgery, expect swelling and tightness for 2 to 3 weeks. A compression garment and surgical bra are worn as directed. Many patients return to desk work in 2 to 3 weeks. Heavy lifting and high impact training usually require 6 weeks or more with surgeon approval. If procedures are staged, recovery is split into shorter periods. An overnight stay may be advised for comfort and observation when combining procedures

Typical components are tummy tuck with muscle repair, breast uplift with or without implants, breast reduction or augmentation, and liposuction to refine shape. Your plan is individual.
Preferably. Further pregnancy can stretch the abdomen and breasts again. Plan surgery when your family is complete.
Most patients wait at least 6 months after finishing breastfeeding so breast size and hormones can settle.
Many plans can be safely combined. Your surgeon will advise based on examination, health status and expected operative time. Staging is chosen when it is safer.
Yes. Tummy tuck with muscle repair can restore support and contour when muscle separation persists after pregnancy.
Tummy tuck scars sit low on the abdomen where underwear can cover them. Breast scars vary by technique and may circle the areola, run vertically, or sit in the crease. Scars fade over 12 – 18 months with appropriate management.
Avoid heavy lifting for at least 6 weeks. Your surgeon will provide specific guidance based on your plan.
Not usually. Liposuction shapes and removes fat but does not remove loose skin or repair muscles. It may be combined with a tummy tuck for best results.
This depends on your surgeon’s technique and the combination performed. You will receive clear written instructions.
